Urothelial carcinoma-like prostatic carcinoma

Urothelial carcinoma-like prostatic carcinoma is a prostatic carcinoma that histologically mimics urothelial carcinoma.

It is not a formally recognized type of prostate cancer.

General

• Uncommon.

Microscopic

Features:

• Large epithelioid cells with prominent nucleoli.
• +/-Papillary structures (pseudopapillae).
• +/-Features suggestive of prostatic carcinoma - cribriforming glands or poorly formed glandular structures.

DDx:

• Urothelial carcinoma.
  • High grade papillary urothelial carcinoma.
• Collision tumour consisting of urothelial carcinoma and prostatic carcinoma.
• Other carcinomas.
