Placental alkaline phosphatase, abbreviated PLAP, is a common immunostain used for assessing suspected germ cell tumours.
It has largely been replaced by OCT4.

- Germ cell neoplasia in situ (intratubular germ cell neoplasia).[2]
- Seminoma.
- Embryonal carcinoma.
