Micrometre

The micrometre is a commonly used length measure in microscopy. It is abbreviated μm.

A red blood cell is approximately 8 micrometres in diameter.[1]

Relation to other measures

  • 1 μm = 1 x 10^-6 m.
  • 1,000,000 μm = 1 m.
  • 1 mm = 1000 μm
