Myxoid lesions

Myxoid lesions occasionally appear on the pathologist's desk.

The differential diagnosis is very large.

Myxoid stroma

Has a pale/blue appearance.

Examples:

• Basal cell carcinoma.
• Inflammatory fibroid polyp - GI tract.
• Low-grade fibromyxoid sarcoma - soft tissue.
• Myxoid fibroadenoma - breast.

• Myxoid DFSP.
• Phyllodes tumour - breast.

Chondromyxoid

• Chondroid syringoma.
