The tonsil is a head and neck ditzel.
It is often removed for:

- Squamous dysplasia of the head and neck.
- Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma - esp. MALT lymphoma.
- HPV-associated head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.
- Squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck.
- Nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
