Acute villitis is an uncommon pathology of the placenta.

Microscopic
Features:
- Neutrophils in the villous stroma - key feature.
- +/-Features suggestive a particular infective etiology.
- Cytoplasmic inclusion +/-owl's eye nucleus (CMV).
