Negative prostatectomy, also radical prostatectomy without cancer, occasionally happens.
General
- Seen in approximately 1% of prostatectomies.[1]
Work-up
- Review biopsy is available.
- Is it plausible?
- Biopsies in minimal cancer prostatectomies usually have minimal low grade cancer.
- Is it plausible?
- Submit prostate in total (if not already done).
- Levels (x3) on all prostate blocks.[1]
- Flip the (prostate tissue) blocks.[1]
