Acute villitis, also acute placental villitis, is an uncommon pathology of the placenta.

Features:

Neutrophils in the villous stroma - key feature.
+/-Features suggestive a particular infective etiology.
- Cytoplasmic inclusion +/-owl's eye nucleus (CMV).
