Testicular cancer is a malignancy arising from the testis.
Testicular cancers are predominantly germ cell tumours.
The 2022 WHO classification
Testicular tumours are divided into the following groups:[1]
- Germ cell tumours derived from germ cell neoplasia in situ.
- Noninvasive germ cell neoplasia.
- Germinoma family of tumours.
- Nonseminomatous germ cell tumours.
- Choriocarcinoma.
- Embryonal carcinoma.
- Yolk sac tumour (postpuberal).
- Teratoma (postpuberal).
- Placental site trophoblastic tumour of the testis.
- Epithelioid trophoblastic tumour.
- Mixed germ cell tumours of the testis.
- Germ cell tumours of unknown type.
- Regressed germ cell tumour - see testicular scar.
- Germ cell tumours unrelated to germ cell neoplasia in situ.
- Spermatocytic tumour.
- Others.
- Sex cord-stromal tumours.
