Shoulder vs separate CIS

Changes raising the possibility of urothelial carcinoma in situ are present in a separate fragment of mucosa; this may represent the shoulder of the papillary urothelial carcinoma or a separate urothelial carcinoma in situ. Clinical correlation is recommended.

Alternate

Comment:
Flat atypical urothelium with proliferation without apparent maturation is present in the background; this may be from the edge (or shoulder) of the lesion or it could be in situ disease. Clinical correlation is recommended.
